I am a freelance writer, journalist, arts publicist and media professional based in Adelaide, South Australia, with more than 14 years experience working in the media.

I appear frequently on Australian television and radio as a social commentator, and enjoy regular spots on ABC Radio Adelaide. I am also a board member at Adelaide's premiere contemporary dance company LWDance Hub.

I'm obsessed with travel and whisky cocktails (both at the same time wherever possible), and when I'm not wasting time on Twitter you'll find me ranting about TV and pop culture on my blog, Bland Canyon, where my episode recaps of shows such as Australia's Next Top Model, The Bachelor and RuPaul's Drag Race have earned me a legion of celebrity fans including Ian "Dicko" Dickson, Alex Perry, Michelle Visage and Courtney Act.

About Petra

Petra Starke is a freelance writer and media professional from Adelaide, South Australia.

She currently writes travel features for Elle as well as regular columns for The Advertiser and News.com.au and has had work published in Cosmopolitan, The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, Courier Mail, Sunday Mail, SA Weekend, Kill Your Darlings, The Vine, Techly and PC Mag.

Petra also manages publicity and media campaigns for various Australian arts companies including Windmill Theatre, Strut & Fret Production House, Adelaide Youth Orchestras and the Feast Festival.

She is also a regular on Australian radio, appearing in regular spots on both FiveAA and ABC Adelaide discussing current affairs and entertainment news.

In her spare time you'll find her cooking risotto, attempting to perfect the Negroni and writing reality TV episode recaps on her blog, Bland Canyon.
