Founded in 1960, the Adelaide Festival is one of Australia's longest-running arts festivals, and is considered one of the world's great arts and cultural events.

Running annually in March, the festival presents a curated program of internationally acclaimed productions in theatre, music, dance and visual art, as well as encompassing Adelaide Writers' Week, Australia's largest free literary festival, and WOMAdelaide world music festival.

I managed media and publicity for the 2017 Adelaide Festival, targeting local, national and international media to achieve coverage across the core program of 31 shows, working with artists such as Barrie Kosky, Rufus Wainwright, Miriam Margolyes and companies including Schaubuhne Theatre (Germany) Glyndebourne Festival Opera (UK), Complicite (UK), Kidd Pivot and Electric Company Theatre (Canada).

I also managed media and publicity for the Adelaide Writers' Week program and additional live shows in the festival's official hub venue, The Riverbank Palais.

Major coverage was achieved Australia-wide in publications including The Australian, Australian Financial Review, The Advertiser, The Age and Sydney Morning Herald, Guardian Australia, Huffington Post, ABC and ABC Radio National and all major TV channels, as well as inflight magazines for Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar.

A small selection of major print media coverage of the 2017 Adelaide Festival:

"Petra Starke was an ideal publicist on our first Adelaide Festival: connected, efficient and intelligent, but most of all working with a great sense of reality, not to mention of humour. I'd work with her again in a heartbeat."

- Neil Armfield AO, Artistic Director Adelaide Festival 2017
