Meet the real Rachael Taylor.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n“I\ncan't remember the last time I even went to a restaurant or a bar,”\nshe says, sitting cross legged on a couch and wrapping her fur coat\ntight as she sips a cup of tea.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\nShe's in the lobby\nof one of New York's trendiest hotels, the Maritime in Chelsea, a\nnotorious hangout for celebrities, hipsters and wannabes of both\nkinds. And I felt really good about that choice. \n\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n“Sometimes\nyou just need to watch a bit of \u003Ci\u003EKhloe\nand Lamar\u003C\/i\u003E. Track pants,\npeanut butter, Kardashians – thank you, great.”\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\nThe\nLaunceston-born actress and Bonds ambassador, who now lives in Los\nAngeles, is in New York to film the pilot of \u003Ci\u003E666\nPark Avenue\u003C\/i\u003E, a\nsupernatural TV drama in which she plays the manager of a haunted\napartment building.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\nAlthough\nsince the recent American ABC reboot of \u003Ci\u003ECharlie's\nAngels\u003C\/i\u003E, in which she\nstarred as cat burglar Abby Sampson, was cancelled after just four\nepisodes, Taylor's quick to point out that \u003Ci\u003E666\nPark Avenue\u003C\/i\u003E may never\nactually make it to television. \n\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n“I've\nlearned on a couple of different projects now that you don't count\nyour chickens before they've hatched,” she says.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\nNot\nthat she's bothered by such pitfalls of the industry. I'd love to be on a TV show,\nI like going to work, but if I'm not I'm just not going to be\ndisappointed,” she says.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n“It's\nnot that I don't care - I'm quite ambitious, but I just don't live\nand die by this job. When I was younger I did. When I was 22 I\ndesperately wanted to be accepted and working and prove that I had a\nreason to be here. And now I just don't mind if I'm in the club or\nnot.”\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\nShe's just as matter-of-fact about her abusive former relationship\nwith actor Matthew Newton, which ended in 2010 after he bashed her in\na hotel in Rome, leaving her with facial injuries. \n\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\nShe still has his name tattooed on her right wrist – something she\ndescribes as a “complete aberration”, given she's never so much\nas had her ears pierced.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n“I\ndo want to get it removed but every now and again I look down on it\nand I'm like 'Never, ever again will someone treat me that f***ing\nway, ever'. And that's quite useful,” she says.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n“It\nmakes me very proud of where I've been, in a way.”\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\nIt seems the tattoo and the painful memories attached to it are just\nanother reminder of Taylor's past that keep her grounded - like her\nbroad accent, which she says she will never drop.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n“Sometimes\nit's like Australians come overseas and the 'Aussie' gets refined out\nof us. I don't know what that is and it's never happened to me\nbecause I'm really proud of it,” she says.\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\n\u003Cdiv style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\"\u003E\n“I\ndon't have an embarrassment about where I'm from or who I am anymore.\nI know who I am.
