Wait, even that sounds dated now. It was like putting Spotify on random and somehow being able to carry it around in your pocket, and occasionally stick a pencil in it to make it work properly again. You get the picture.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nEven though you’d usually only make a mix tape in the event of a mutual and amicable split, not in the sort of breakup where one person announces to the entire country that they think the other person is a dud and then dumps them on national television, I thought it might be nice to make one for our former prime minister.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nSo here’s my list of songs for Tony Abbott, to help ease the pain of rejection and act as a reminder of some of his finest achievements.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cb\u003EThe Pixies — Tony’s Theme\u003C\/b\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Ccenter\u003E\n\u003Ciframe allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6m_Rgx-yF2w\" width=\"420\"\u003E\u003C\/iframe\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nI wonder if, when Boston rock band The Pixies released their seminal album Surfer Rosa in 1988, they knew how prescient their lyrics would turn out to be after an Australian Liberal government spill 27 years later.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nProbably not, but in track nine, Tony’s Theme, we have the perfect farewell for the former PM, an “evil chasing” weirdo who rides a bicycle, to whom we’re “waving bye, bye, bye, bye, bye.”\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nIt doesn’t mention anything about budgie smugglers but hey, they were mostly right.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cb\u003EAnything by Built to Spill\u003C\/b\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Ccenter\u003E\n\u003Ciframe allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bQZToWGpagc\" width=\"420\"\u003E\u003C\/iframe\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nStop the Show would be an appropriate choice, as would Never Be the Same, but given the current state of the Liberal Party anything by this American indie band would work.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cb\u003ETaj Mahal — Malcolm’s Song\u003C\/b\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Ccenter\u003E\n\u003Ciframe allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/m_g4CxLqMoQ\" width=\"560\"\u003E\u003C\/iframe\u003E\u003C\/center\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nWhat better way to get through a breakup than with a song by one of the world’s best blues musicians? This chilled out instrumental is from Taj Mahal’s 1977 album Brothers.
